OROFACIAL MYOLOGY
Your New Dentist is revolutionizing how the Community thinks about, talks about and experiences dental services.
The old story
“Never heard of this before… just another made up therapy for dentists to find problems and make money from us!”
The old story
“Never heard of this before… just another made up therapy for dentists to find problems and make money from us!”
“I had braces, so my kids will need them.”
the facts
Orofacial Myology is the science and clinical knowledge of restoring normal and mutual interaction of the orofacial muscle groups (head, face and neck), dentition (teeth) and respiration (breathing) that is the physiological basis of speaking, chewing, and swallowing.
Sounds fancy, but in simple terms Orofacial Myology refers to the muscles of the face and the way they work. The way your muscles work will literally determine the way you grow and function.
The old school thought of ‘I had braces, so my kids will need them’ is an outdated thought. The science of Orofacial Myology shows us that the way we use muscles, our oral posture and the way we breathe, will all determine the way our face and mouth will grow. Poor oral function can lead to poor facial growth and also dysfunction and pain as an adult.
